  • We Interrupt An Assignment To Bring You This Announcement...

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him,
who have been called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28, Today's New International Version

The five truths about God’s providence :
    1. We know that God works, or is at work, in our lives.
    2. God is at work for the good of His people.
    3. God works for our good in all things.
    4. God works in all things for the good of those who love Him.
    5. Those who love God are also described as those who have been called according to His purpose.
We do not always understand what God is doing, let alone welcome it. Nor are we told that He is at work for our comfort. But we know that in all things He is working towards our supreme good. And one of the reasons we know this is that we are given many examples of it in the Scripture.

  • God In The Heart

I came across a fantastic quote in my college lecture notes today. It is from a J. I. Packer classic called Knowing God, and it goes :
There is tremendous relief in knowing that His love to me is utterly realistic, based at every point on prior knowledge of the worst about me, so that no discovery now can disillusion Him about me, in the way that I am so often disillusioned about myself, and quench His determination to bless me.
Funkydoodles! (that's my new way of saying that something is cool)

  • You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same
    You are amazing God
    - Indescribable by Chris Tomlin
We sang this song in church yesterday and it got me thinking.

Many of us are very, very afraid to show other people who we really are, because we're afraid that if they really knew who we were, they wouldn't like us anymore.

So we put on a facade. A "I've got it all together" facade. And we refuse to let people help us.

It provides me immense comfort and overflowing thankfulness to be reminded again that God sees all that we are - even beyond what we know about ourselves, and yet He loves us the same.

Another song we sang at the evening service reinforced this reminder of God's amazing love :
Your grace has found me just as I am, empty handed but alive in Your hands
    - Majesty by Deliriou5?
To know that God loves me just as I am, in all my brokenness and my imperfections, that's really just... wow.

    Thanks, God.
